As Jesus says many times in the Bible, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." (Ref.) The purpose of this letter is to develop a "big picture" view of the most important Christian ideas which are now battling for the mind of mankind. There are six of these most important ideas, and they are viewed together as "The Six Certainties Of The Christian Faith." If we organize all of our teaching around these six certainties, we can make God's Truth understandable to mankind and we can refute the false beliefs of His enemies. All other details of faith are less important than The Six Certainties and are subordinate to them. The intellectual battleground is here, on The Six Certainties. If people accept The Six Certainties into their mind, they will accept the Lord Jesus Christ into their heart. This purpose is in full accord with His will, as expressed in The Great Commandment and The Great Commission. God wants people to love Him with all their mind . . . The Great Commandment "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment." (Matthew 22:37-38 KJV) . . . and He wants us to go throughout the world, teaching people to accept Him as Lord. The Great Commission "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:19-20 KJV) So we see clearly that God wants to be known and loved by the mind of mankind. In order to accomplish this, He wants His Truth to be sharpened like a sword, so that it cuts through all false ideas His enemies can bring against it. (See Ephesians 6:17) The Six Certainties are the means by which His will can be accomplished. <>< The Six Certainties Of The Christian Faith 1. There is one God, Creator of all things. 2. The Bible is the one true and complete written Word of God. 3. Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God. The words "only-begotten" mean "only-fathered," that is, Jesus is the only human ever directly physically fathered by God. 4. Jesus was crucified, dead and buried, then rose from the dead, by the power of God, and lives today in Heaven and in the hearts of those who believe in Him. 5. If we believe in Him, we will not perish, but will have eternal life, forever with Him. "Believing in Him" means: that we accept the fact that He is Son of God, risen from the dead; that we accept Him as our own personal Lord; that we try to follow His commandments as best we know how; that we are always willing to declare our faith in Him, openly and without hesitation. This fifth certainty leads easily into "The Gospel Of Jesus Christ, Simplified," which is . . . "You give yourself totally to Him, and He takes good care of you forever." 6. The most important thing He wants us to do is to love: to love God first of all, then to love all other people the same as we love ourselves, using His love for us as our example. <>< These, then, are The Six Certainties Of The Christian Faith. We should fight the battle of ideas on the grounds of these Six Certainties, not on any peripheral issues of lesser importance. If people will accept these Six Certainties into their mind, they will accept Jesus Christ as Lord into their heart. Blessings to you in Jesus Christ our Lord. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
