God Created Evolution. He Guides It And Controls It.

"Evolution" is defined as "a process of change in a certain direction." 
This is the primary definition in my dictionary, Webster's Ninth New 
Collegiate Dictionary. Your dictionary probably says almost the same 
thing.
 
Few people would argue with this definition. Things change, they evolve 
in certain directions. Automobiles have evolved from early simple machines, 
as have airplanes and other manufactured items. Laws have evolved, music 
has evolved. Almost everything created by man has evolved from something 
similar to it which existed earlier. Man, as creator of these things, has 
deliberately modified them over time to meet new conditions and to include 
advances in technology. 


In Nature too, we see evidence of evolution. God, as Creator of the 
Universe, has developed many things progressively from similar things 
which He created earlier. This is the way He works, bringing all things 
into existence when He is ready for them to exist. 

God created evolution, and He guides it and controls it, for His own 
purposes. Evolution is not an accident, and it does not happen according 
to any mechanistic process. 

The Atheists believe that "random mutation" is the force behind biological 
evolution. "Random mutation" coupled with "survival of the fittest" is the 
algorithm they believe in. They are wrong. The mutations are not random, 
they are are guided and controlled by God. This is why there is such 
overwhelming evidence of Intelligent Design throughout all Creation. Look 
at your hand. Could this possibly have happened all by itself. No. It was 
designed, by God, using his process of Guided Evolution to bring it into 
existence. 

"Random mutations" could never account for the intricacy and perfection of 
design we see in Nature. If mutations were random, how many quadrillions 
of failed attempts would occur before the spots on the fish are exactly 
the same as the markings on the rocks it lives beside? The mathematics are 
prohibitive. Genetic mutations are quite rare, usually the result of a 
mistake in copying the code from one cell to another. And they are random, 
not related to any need of the species. So, over a million years the fish 
might randomly grow bigger fins and a smaller tail before it stumbled 
across some helpful change in protective markings. Such a cumbersome, 
long-winded process could never result in the timely development of needed 
protections. The species would die out first! 

No. God is the Creator of everything, just as it says in the Bible. He 
uses evolution as one of His creative tools, and he guides it and controls 
it every step of the way. 

One more thing, a source of much confusion: 


The Bible speaks of the "six days" of Creation. This does not mean that 
everything was created in six literal twenty-four-hour days. The "six 
days" is a figure of speech, meaning six periods of time. Similarly, the 
Bible uses the phrase "the day of the Lord," in twenty-seven different 
places. But nowhere does it mean one single twenty-four-hour day. It means 
the entire period of time when God pays back people for the evil they have 
done. The Bible uses poetical figures of speech all the time. "Lake of 
fire" is a figure of speech. So is the idea of Satan as a "roaring lion." 
There are many, many others. It is a great mistake to take them literally. 

So God accomplished His great work of Creation in six distinct stages, or 
"days," ending with His creation of Man. Now, His major work is done, but 
He continues to "fine tune" it in an evolutionary manner, guiding and 
controlling this Himself. 

So whenever an Atheist tries to tell you that you were created not by God 
but by evolution, you can reply: 


     "YES, BUT GOD CREATED EVOLUTION. HE GUIDES IT AND CONTROLS IT."
