Title: A Study of Parallel Processing and Related Computer Graphics
Director:
Dr. Robert Sharpley
Second Reader:
Dr. Douglas Meade
Description: My senior honors thesis was started in January 1995 and completed
May 1996. My thesis focused on parallel machines and their
uses in today's world. This involved the archectiture, programming and
use of MPP machines. I also focused on related computer graphics and how
parallel processing is helping to advance this branch of computer science.
A demonstration was also being developed which relates
to parallel processing and image analysis. This was being done with the
Intel Paragon
located at USC's Computer Services Division. Unfortunately, a patch was
added to the Paragon's kernel, and it disabled DGL from working. Needless to say, my demo isn't nearly as impressive on paper as it was on the Paragon. Look for a copy to be available here soon,
or if you are at USC copies will be kept in the Honors College and the
South Caroliniana Library.
