Subject: Elijah Crouch (1763-1826) Family Research
I am still having a lot of fun researching my Crouch Family History. My
research focus on to collect genalogical data and documentation on all
descendants of Elijah and Mary (Ellis) Crouch. I, of course, wish to exchange
data with other researchers. Then, I research the ancestry families of both
Elijah Crouch and Mary Ellis. Hopefully a complete and documented family
group
sheet for their fathers, grandfathers, etc. will emerge in order to share
these records on to our children and grandchildren.
Hope to hear from all of you soon.

I am seeking information on an Elijah Crouch Sr. and his association with
the Ellises of Boone's Creek Washington Co. Tn. The story has been told
that a John Ellis(1742-1842) lost his wife and part of his family to Indians
in NC. It is said that he later moved to Henry County Va and lived for a
brief time with Elijah Crouch Sr.
I know that John Ellis moved to the Boone's Creek area in the 1780's. His
second marriage was to a Jemima Lane. My ancestor William Ellis purchased
land on Boone's Creek in 1784. He is most likely a brother to John Ellis.
William's daughter Mary married an Elijah Crouch and I assume this to be
the son of Elijah Crouch Sr. Has anyone seen any records that would
substantiate that John Ellis did indeed reside with Elijah Crouch in
Virginia. Also I have never seen any records relative to the Indian
massacre. I'm not sure where one would find records like these. Any
suggestions?

and born in North Carolina.

Elijah Crouch
Born: 1770 Virginia

Born: 1772 Virginia
They lived in Carter Co, Tennessee, Cumberland Co, Kentucky
It would be very helpful to me to know if it has been documented
that the Mary Ellis Crouch listed in the above information was
indeed born in Virginia. My research has shown that her father
sold property in Randolph County, NC in 1782 and purchased land
on Boone's Creek in Washington Co., Tn in 1784. The information
taken from 1850 US census records indicate that they were in NC
at least from 1768 to1780. Of course, it maybe possible that
they moved briefly to Virgnia where Mary Ellis was born. Any
help on this would be appreciated.

My name is Betty Ann Marks and I live in NYC. I was adopted and looking
for my family blood roots and found my Crouch name. My father who was also
adopted did not know his real family name until I found out for both of
us. It is Crouch. Our line goes back to John Crouch Sr., one of his sons
Elijah,
had a son named James, who had a son named Jesse
Pearson, who had a son named
James who married Silby Ann Winningham, who had a son named Donnie, who
had my
father Claude Crouch and his brother Ralph Crouch (who is believed to be
Porter Wagner). This is my line of Crouches. I have never met or spoken
to
any of my Crouch relatives and I am eager to learn about my family. Please
contact me.
