(excerpt from a letter)

All our information about descendants of Lewellyn Crouch comes from Marcia Kinder Oresky, of Arlington, Va. As you may know, the descendants of Llewellyn's brother Jesse King Crouch are very organized and have a reunion in Turney, Missouri every year. Jesse King Crouch's children moved from Fall Branch, Tennessee to Turney, Missouri in the 1870s and 80s. Fall Branch is where our mutual ancestor Jesse Crouch died and was buried in 1841.

Mrs. Kinder's genealogy says that John Nelson Crouch was born 18 Nov. 1851 in Sugar Creek, Gallatin Co., Ky., married Laura Ellen Riley on 26 September 1875 in Switzerland Co., Indiana, and died on 13 July 1941 in Higgins.

John's father Lewellyn Crouch was born 10 April 1809 in Gallatin Co., Ky., and on 4 December 1834 married Hannah Kuhn, b. 1812 in Tennessee, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Hendrix Kuhn. (The Hendrixes of Carter Co., Tenn. often married Crouches, including two of Llewellyn's uncles.) Llewellyn died 6 February 1879, in Quercus Grove, Switzerland Co., Ind.

Llewellyn's mother was Susan King Crouch and his father was William Crouch, b. 1787, son of Jesse Crouch whose house we are restoring.
