WHAT THE CROUCHES KNOW ABOUT THE DESCENDANTS OF CRANDALL MACKEY
A Crouch Family Heritage Association Family
Tree page
I got the following information from my grandmother, Helen E. Crouch of
Arlington, Virginia. She is the oldest living member of the Edelin family
that I know of.
Crandall Mackey, Sheriff of Alexandria County, Virginia, was a Sheriff like
the one in "Lone Star," and is a local hero for raiding and closing
all the gambling joints in Arlington, which
were competing with his floating casino in Georgetown. He had at least one
daughter and at least two sons, Lincoln and Argyll (or Argyle?). Lincoln
married Elsie Burkholder, who lived nearby on Lee Highway, U.S. 29/211,
between Calvert and Cleveland Streets. Lincoln and Elsie had a son, Billy
Mackey, who is now living in Florida; and a daughter, Betty Jean, who was
born ca. 1923 and married a man named Frazee. We think Lincoln Mackey died
ca. 1980.
Here is the address and phone number we have for Betty Jean Frazee: 97 Timber
Ridge Dr., Westminster, Maryland 21157. (410) 848-1726. She has probably
moved from that address but is likely to still be in Westminster.
Betty Jean had two daughters. They came to visit once or twice but we can't
remember their names. One of them was married to a man named Stanislauski
or something like that, but we think they are both twice-married.
Elsie later married John Walter Edelin, Jr. They both died in the early
1980s. Their son, John Walter Edelin III, probably has the address of his
half-brother Billy Mackey, and may know more about his half-sister and his
nieces. Here is John Edelin's address: 8211 Trabue Road, Richmond, Virginia
23235.
