The following was written by Roberta
Gatto but I have supplemented it with some information from another
member of the family --
James Crouch Jr., son of Mary Jane Samuel Keene and James
Crouch Sr., settled in Kansas, married Elizabeth Tabitha (Lizzie) Bevis
born April 30, 1870, Newcastle, Indiana. She died 6 May 1949 in Santa Barbara,
California. They married October 25, 1891, Cairo, Pratt Co., KS. James Jr.
was one of the riders in the Cherokee Outlet Run in September 1893. They
settled in or near Liberty Township,
Woods Co., OK. They sold the land around 1901, and moved to Alva, OK.
They had several children, of whom only the following grew to adulthood:
- Robert M. Crouch
- Gladys Crouch 1895-1999; she did a lot of family tree work. She's listed
on the 1900 census as Gladys B.; she later dropped the middle name and chose
a new one, Iris.
- MayBelle Crouch, listed as Ella M. and Mable on different censuses.
- Grace Gwendolyn Crouch1900-1994.
- Joe Crouch.
- Frank Crouch, who had only one son, Leroy Crouch.
Leroy had a daughter named Lisa.
- Esselgeane Crouch (Jean)
- Jack Crouch.
I'm not currently sure of the birth and death dates on the above list, so
I did not list the dates. There is a photo of Gladys, Robert, MayBelle,
Lizzie and some of Lizzie's family in front of a sod house in 1898.
My sources are Dr. Winston W. Crouch, a descendant of James B., one of Jesse's
brothers. He did
a huge amount of research on his family; his daughter, Arlene Crouch Quinn
sent me a
lot of his stuff. Other sources were Esta Rae Crouch, James G. Crouch,
Gertrude Murphy, Edna Stone, Gladys Iris Crouch, Carmelita Clark, Evelyn
Y.
Crouch, Daphne G. Stauffer, my own research in sending for marriage
certificates, such as James and Lizzie's and looking at census information.

Leroy Frederick Crouch, b. 02-16-1936 Santa Barbara, CA d. 05-28-1999 Huntington
Beach, CA. He was a great man. Devoted his life to God and his church. It
appears that there is a long history of pastors in the family. He has two
sons as well. David Lee Crouch, b. 03-02-1960 Newport Beach, CA and Micheal
Wayne Crouch b. 06-16-62 Orange, CA and me, Lisa
Marie Crouch Esslinger, b. 12-04-1964 Orange, CA. His father Frank Leroy
Crouch, was also a pastor.
My first husband: James David Baillargeon
We married: 2-2-1982
We have one daughter together: Jennifer Lynn Baillargeon b 5-29-1986
My current husband: Lorence John Esslinger b 10-16-1964
We married: 7-24-1999
We have one daughter together: Erin Kaitlyn Esslinger b 7-24-1995
