Joe S. Crouch 1830-1895 of Boones Creek, John Crouch's
son, married April 14, 1853 Margaret Ann King 1836-1897 of nearby Johnson
City, Tn. 7 children born to them in Washington Co., Tn. The family moved
to Giles Co. (State?) in Fall of 1871, then to Parker Co., Tx in Fall of
1872
Children:
Henry Crouch, b. 6 Aug 1854 in Washington Co
moved to Texas 1871/1872
with his parents and siblings. They lived in Santo (then Grand Ranche),
Palo Pinto Co. During the last of that decade, the railroad to the West
was
being built through the area. Henry was probably working to build bridges,
etc, as were his other brothers. According to some family members, Henry
left home about 1879 without the family knowing. In the 1920s, his brother
George, living in Southern Arizona, was informed by an acquaintance
returning from Mexico that he had seen and talked with Henry. Henry did
not want his family to look for or try to contact him. Some had related
that he had married a wealthy widow, others that he had taken the Mormon
religion. The only thing I know for sure is that brothers, John and Bob
had
come to my grandmother, Florence Crouch Barnett (b.1856), to discuss the
idea of making the trip to see Henry, but decided not to do so. George had
a son disappear into Mexico, never to return.

I am wondering about this entry in the Crouch data:
"Children of Joe S. Crouch John Crouch's son:
Henry Crouch 1854 disappeared"
What exactly do they mean by disappeared? How old was Henry when he disappeared?
I am searching for a Henry Crouch born 1855. If anyone knows the story of
the "disappearance" please let me know.
