My grandfather, Alfred Crouch 1898 lived in 3rd Avenue Dagenham.
My father Alfred George Crouch 1923 and our family lived in
Dagenham, also Chadwell Heath. I also had a Great uncle in
Dagenham but cannot remember his name, i think he moved to
Australia some years back. I still have a sister with the name
Crouch living near Dagenham.
There was at least one other Crouch family name in Dagenham that
i know of, but that was many years back.
If you have more info i will try to help.
Found your message because i am interested in my family tree and
left a message on the same page as you.

I am amazed to see so much information on the Crouch name and had no idea
that it was so widespread. I am looking to find more information about the
Crouch line prior to my Grandfather Albert who came from the Gravesend area
South East of London. He worked on the Southampton to Channel Island boats
and ferries in and around both wars. At the moment I Know little else except
I believe he remarried and lived in Jersey (UK Channel Islands) after his
first wife died. Before my father died he wished to find his brother John
(or Jonathan) but left it too late. Any relevant information welcome.

I know that relatives of mine generations ago left England for America.
My father is Robert George Crouch, Thames Waterman and Bargemaster to Her
Majesty the Queen. His father and father before him were all watermen on

My grandfather's name was Robert George Alfred Crouch. Could we be
related? He came from Greenwich and was a Waterman on the Thames.
Would love to hear from you.

our respective families may be linked by marriage a few generations back
and that connection may yield some useful details of mutual interest. This
link was through my paternal great grandmother's second marriage as follows:
Mary Ann SONNEX
b. 22 January 1849 @ Little Bennett Street Greenwich Kent.
bap. St. Alfege's Greenwich
m. (1) 18 October 1869 at Greenwich Register Office to Henry CARTER...
(2) 1907 at Christchurch Greenwich SE10
to William CROUCH widower.
Mary Ann Sonnex's first husband Henry Carter worked (unskilled) for Thames
Conservancy and together they raised a large family which included at least
two Thames watermen - one of which Arthur James Carter became a renowned
prizewinning oarsman whose many trophies included the Doggett Coat &
Badge the Putney Coat & Badge Greenwich Regatta Cups etc..
If anyone can help me connect with the said Nathalie Crouch I'd be grateful.
Thank you -

Dear John, My name is Edward George Crouch and I live in the state of Queensland
in Australia. I have traced my family history back to my great grandparents
who were married in Adelaide in South Australia in 1861. I believe they
both were born in Ireland. Legend in the family had us related to a Ned
Kelly (Australia's Jesse James, his brother Dan was also part of the bank
robbing gang). My research has shown my great grandmother's maiden name
was Kelly. Unfortunately there is no other information on their marriage
registration which was only one line in the church register. There seems
to be a lot of people by the name of Crouch in South Australia at the time
as book has been published giving the names of all South Australians. Should
you be able to suggest any avenues where I can extend my research I would
be much appreciative. Yours faithfully Ed Crouch
