Peter Bowers b. 12.31.1820 d. April 10, 1881; m. 1st, March 14, 18__,Harriet Gruber, daughter of John Gruber and Susanna Leiz [Note: My source said the Bowers-Gruber marriage was1829, but that must be wrong.]

Peter and Harriet Gruber Bowers had seven sons:

2. John Luther Bowers b. Summit Point, W.Va. Mar. 22, 1850; d. Jan. 23, 1917 in Morgan Hill, CA, m. Jan. 28, 1870 Alice Huyett [Note: He is called John S. Bowers in the Clarke County, Va. marriage records. This may be correct, or it could be that a loopy L was transcribed as an S.] They were my great-great grandparents.
3. William Melanchthon Bowers, b. Aug. 5, 1852; m. Kate Thompson on Nov. 16, 1887 in San Francisco, CA
4. Adam Storck Bowers,
5. Joseph Henry Bowers, b. Apr. 21, 1858 in Jefferson Co. VA.[now WV]; m. Maggie Dixie Campbell in Woodland CA
6. Samuel Sprecker Bowers, and
7. Edgar Bowers b. 2.27.1866 married Lillian Susan Gordon from Gerrardstown, WV on 9.4.188?

Edgar Bowers, son of Peter and Harriet Gruber Bowers, b. 2.27.1866 married Lillian Susan Gordon. They moved to NC and VA before moving back to Berkeley Co., WV. They had 8 sons:
