| Same, plus shock attack with the engaged cohorts | 1 | |

| Laevinus and Plautius move to the center and set up a defensive line to hold off the HC | 1 | |
| Laevinus stays on the Roman left and rallies cohorts | 1 |
There were a few less votes then usual (especially given the length of time it's taken to get around to this update). I figure some folks are just rooting for Pyrrhus and don't care what the Romans do. :^) I probably should mention that I don't consult previous moves to see if anything's relevant (it's just too much of a hassle) so if you do want to get your vote in, you've got to send e-mail when I ask for it.
This is a difficult move for Laevinus because the Romans can't do what they'd like (follow up attacks on the broken part of the phalanx line) because their leaders are out of position. So moving some leaders towards the Roman right is sensible.
A few folks voted for shock attacking with the existing forces in contact, but the odds aren't too good, since only the purple (V) and yellow (XIV) cohorts would be within Laevinus's command range. You might rout two phalanxes (the ones with five hits already) but most of the attackers are also likely to rout. That seems gutsy to me, given the assumption that Pyrrhus will get his normal activation, one more momentum, and then EIO first thing next turn. That's a lot of opportunity to pick off routed cohorts.
Routing, not shown: AS/VII LG h
In Pursuit: AS/XV Ex RC (w/ 4 hits)
Laevinus's rally rolls are terrible: a '7' and a '9' eliminate two cohorts but at least the remaining two attempts succeed. The Romans can ill-afford those 10 extra rout points!
Since Pyrrhus is going next anyway, Laevinus tries for Momentum -- maybe he'll get lucky and the turn will end, or maybe Pyrrhus's Trump attempt will fail. But it's academic, as the Momentum dr=7. Now Pyrrhus is up.
Current Rout Point totals:
| Side | Current | Limit | Pct | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Romans | 134 | 185 | 72% | |
| Epirotes | 53 | 120 | 44% |
What should Pyrrhus do? Since Pyrrhus's general location is so important (stay on left? move right to elephants? move to PH in center?) we'll do his probable Momentum in a separate vote. Just tell me what he should do for his normal activation.
