The (Unofficial) Great Battles of History
The Gallic Wars, 58-52 BC
This game takes the Caesar system back from the Roman civil war era to the conquest of Gaul. It's so new that I've done nothing more than take a quick glance at the components. Even just doing that reveals some annoying typos in the tables. Shouldn't keep you from playing, but it's a bit disappointing to see rough edges on what is, after all, a series game.
The Joe Youst maps are done in the same style as Phalanx and Jugurtha. They look pretty good, although you might have trouble differentiating the elevations if you're color-blind. Fortunately, there are fewer levels here than in Phalanx.
The scenarios appear to offer a good amount of variety, including straight-ahead bashers, reinforcement battles, and naval combat. I hope to give them a try soon (but you know how that goes...)
